Ubuntu 12.04 – 64bit, rsyslogd stops logging to syslog after log rotation

It seems after a log rotation, rsyslogd stops writing to /var/log/syslog.
This is due to a bug during the reload of the service.
The fix is to edit /etc/logrotate.d/rsyslog and replace reload rsyslog >/dev/null 2>&1 || true with restart rsyslog >/dev/null 2>&1 || true.

Then restart rsyslogd.
